ForSHORE by Soletanche Polska: a close-up look at the foundation works for Terminal T5 at the Port of Gdańsk

Soletanche Polska, our Polish subsidiary, has been appointed as a specialized subcontractor to carry out the foundation works for Terminal T5 at the Port of Gdańsk. This terminal is intended to become an installation platform for offshore wind farms

A key terminal for the development of offshore wind power

Terminal T5 will be operated as an installation platform dedicated to offshore wind farms. It will play a central role in the development of the Baltica 2 project, one of the largest offshore wind farms in Poland.
The project is led by Istrana Sp. z o.o., whose shareholders include the Polish Development Fund (PFR) and Baltic Hub Container Terminal Sp. z o.o.
Within this framework, Soletanche Polska is carrying out the foundation works as a specialized subcontractor for the main contractor, NDI Group S.A.

A strategically significant project for Baltic Sea infrastructure

The works performed by Soletanche Polska are of exceptional scale: nearly 1,500 CFA piles, representing a cumulative length of more than 50 kilometers, 33,000 m³ of low-carbon concrete, and over 2,000 tonnes of steel installed.
This project ranks among the most important port infrastructures in the Baltic region in Poland. Every day, more than 500 m³ of low-carbon concrete and 30 tonnes of steel are installed on site.

Operational challenges: logistics, production rate, and continuous operations

The construction of Terminal T5 represents a major logistical challenge. Soletanche Polska’s teams operate continuously, 24 hours a day, five days a week, with two complete sets of equipment working simultaneously.

Technical characteristics of the CFA piles
• Diameter: 800 mm
• Design length: up to 35 m
• Reinforcement length: up to 34 m
• Drilling depth: up to 36 m
