Lima Metro: six years building the future of Peru’s capital

Since 2019, Soletanche Bachy Peru has been continuously involved in the construction of Line 2 of the Lima Metro, a key project to improve traffic flow in the capital. This project represents a major step forward: for the first time in Peru, entirely underground stations are being built for this type of infrastructure.

A rapidly expanding network

The Lima Metro will eventually have six lines:

  • Line 1, already in service (entirely above ground),
  • Three lines in the design phase,
  • Two lines under construction (Line 2 and a section of Line 4, both underground).

Line 2 will cover 27 km with 27 stations, while the branch of line 4 will cover 8 km and 8 stations, providing a direct link to the airport.

Our contribution: expertise and specialised solutions

As part of this vast project, Soletanche Bachy Peru constructed the retaining structures for 17 stations and 11 ventilation shafts.
Our teams constructed:

  • Over 197,000 m² of diaphragm walls,
  • Nearly 10,000 linear metres of piles,
  • As well as specialised structures: barrettes, micropiles and consolidation injections.

Overcoming major technical challenges

Heterogeneous soil, continuous work 24 hours a day, 6 days a week, up to three active fronts simultaneously, piles exceeding 50 m in depth and 1.80 m in diameter… The challenges on this project were numerous and complex. It was thanks to the expertise, rigour and innovation of the teams that these achievements were possible.

After more than six years of commitment, we are proud to be part of a project that will permanently change the way people travel in Lima.
