Foundation Alliance delivers foundations for Zion Road project

In Singapore, Foundation Alliance is currently delivering the foundations for a major residential project: Zion Road, soon to become one of the country’s tallest precast concrete buildings, reaching 63 storeys.

Bespoke foundation solutions for a high-rise challenge

Foundation Alliance has been entrusted with the design and execution of deep foundations for the future tower, including:

  • Bored piles of large diameter,
  • An earth retention system using secant bored piles.

To stabilize the boreholes, bentonite slurry is being used as the drilling support fluid — a well-suited method for the ground conditions encountered.

Technical and geotechnical challenges

Several challenges make this project particularly complex:

  • Large-diameter piles (1,800 mm) installed at tight spacing (~3 m from center to center),
  • Risk of collapsing sandy soil layers,
  • Presence of hard rock layers with strengths exceeding 4.0 MPa.

Adding to the complexity, the site is extremely constrained and the main contractor’s deadlines are very tight. The raft foundation — up to 3 meters thick — must be completed quickly to allow for the first structural platform layer to be cast, a critical milestone for construction to proceed vertically at pace.

Team commitment and technical excellence

In this dense urban environment, precise coordination and efficiency are essential. The Foundation Alliance team has shown remarkable commitment and adaptability to deliver this crucial phase on time and to specification.
