Mega Fraternidad – Corredor Verde: Rodio Swissboring completes slope stabilization works

Rodio Swissboring successfully completed the slope stabilization works in the Mega Fraternidad Cristiana area, as part of the Corredor Verde Project, which will connect the city of Mixco with the Anillo Periférico, one of the most important streets in Guatemala City.

This first phase of the project includes slope stabilization, drainage works, and the construction of a viaduct. As part of this, 3,956 m² of retaining walls were built using the Soil Nailing and Shotcrete system, along with 1,020 linear meters of subhorizontal drains. These works ensure ground stability and the safety of future road structures.

With this important milestone completed, Rodio Swissboring’s teams were able to begin construction in November 2025 of the road that will connect directly to the Ruta al Pacífico, with work expected to take two years.

Strategic infrastructure for the city

The project includes a four-lane road, with provisions for electric transportation and a 2,000-vehicle parking facility, designed to integrate with the Transmetro – the Guatemala City bus network.

Once completed, it is expected to reduce travel times from up to 40 minutes to approximately 15 minutes, enhancing both urban traffic efficiency and quality of life for daily commuters.

The Corredor Verde project also includes:

  • Phase 2, which will connect Mega Fraternidad to La Ceiba Park and the southern boulevard of San Cristóbal, incorporating green spaces and bike paths.
  • Phase 3, which will connect Mixco to Villalobos and the Ruta al Pacífico.

With this first stage successfully completed, Rodio Swissboring reaffirms its commitment to safe, sustainable, and high-performance engineering, contributing to the urban and road development of Guatemala.
