Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation Park: Bachy Soletanche Completes Works More Than Two Months Ahead of Schedule
The teams of Bachy Soletanche Group Limited have completed ahead of schedule the foundation works for the Hong Kong–Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park project at Lok Ma Chau Loop.
The Project
As a reminder, the project includes the construction of excavation and lateral support works for 4 blocks of commercial buildings in the Phase 1 development area.
A Large-Scale Operation Under Challenging Geotechnical Conditions
For Bachy Soletanche Group Limited, the project involved deep excavation and lateral support works carried out in a demanding geotechnical environment, characterized predominantly by marine mud.
The main technical challenges included:
-
Deep excavation down to 18.5 metres
-
Management of more than 207,000 m³ of excavated material
-
Intensive logistical organization for both land and marine disposal of materials
The successful delivery of this operation relied on design optimization, advanced resource planning, rigorous operational management, and seamless coordination among all stakeholders.
Key Project Figures
The scale and performance of the works are reflected in the following indicators:
-
399 interlocking pipe piles, 813 mm in diameter, representing approximately 11,700 linear metres
-
67 driven steel beams (UB 1016 × 305 × 584 kg/m)
-
Maximum excavation depth: 18.5 m
-
Total excavated volume: more than 207,000 m³
-
Excavation rate: over 4,000 m³ per day

A Major Milestone for the Hong Kong–Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park
Commenced in March 2025, the excavation and lateral support works were fully completed before Chinese New Year 2026, more than two months ahead of the original contractual schedule. Congratulations to the teams for their outstanding work!
