CRL C1 Britomart project received the Construction Excellence Award in New Zealand
This summer, the City Rail Link C1 Britomart project, being carried out by the joint venture between Soletanche Bachy International and Downer NZ with the participation of March, was recognised for its excellence by Civil Contractors New Zealand, the national association for civil construction and engineering in New Zealand, in the category of projects over NZ$100 million.
This professional distinction was awarded to the project for its performance on many levels:

- Construction
- Relations with external stakeholders
- Team culture
- Customer satisfaction
The C1 project, completed in 2021 after almost five years of construction, was the initial works package for Auckland’s metro, the City Rail Link. The aim was to create a cut-and-cover tunnel beneath the historic Auckland Central Post Office building, to link Britomart station to Aotea station, as well as to underpin the Central Post Office (completed by Freyssinet New Zealand).
