Technical challenges, complex logistics, and an outstanding team of people come together in Manzanillo, where Soletanche Bachy Colombia<\/a> and Soletanche Bachy International are building a key structure for the development of the Dominican Republic: a 240-meter quay and a 200-meter walkway that will transform the country’s port mobility.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>

The new 240-meter-long quay and its 200-meter access walkway in Manzanillo Bay (Pepillo Salcedo, Dominican Republic) represent much more than just a maritime structure: they are an infrastructure designed to transform the region, strengthen the Caribbean’s logistical competitiveness, and open up new opportunities for the communities of Pepillo Salcedo, Montecristi, and the entire country.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Technical challenges and innovative solutions<\/span><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

The project, carried out for the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications, is putting the team’s technical, human, and logistical capabilities to the test. From design to construction, the project has required innovative solutions to overcome the challenges posed by a maritime environment and a complex logistics chain.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the superstructure foundation, the\u00a0SolJetty\u00ae<\/strong>\u00a0system is being used, allowing the installation of piles to proceed while civil engineering work continues in parallel. This methodology is combined with the operation of an on-site prefabrication plant, producing capitals, beams, and precast slabs with total quality control. This comprehensive strategy optimizes deadlines, reduces risks, and ensures operational continuity at every stage of the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the main challenges has been international logistics: the transport of materials and equipment and the obtaining of customs authorizations require transit times of up to three months, requiring extremely precise planning where each pile, each prefabricated element, and each assembly phase depends on a strict schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Environmental commitment and sustainability<\/span><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

Environmental commitment is also a fundamental pillar of the project. This includes continuous monitoring of water turbidity, control of atmospheric emissions, and a structured waste management system. The entire camp is powered entirely by solar energy. In addition, measures to optimize the use of steel and concrete have reduced CO\u2082 equivalent emissions by 771 tons and 554 tons respectively, results that reflect concrete actions in line with the VINCI Group’s global sustainability commitments.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

The strength of the team<\/span><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

However, the real driving force behind this progress remains the human dimension of the project. More than 130 people\u2014including local talent and professionals from Colombia, Ecuador, and France\u2014are combining their expertise to make each stage possible. This multicultural and highly specialized team, which had worked a total of 231,218 hours as of October 31, 2025, illustrates the strength of an operation that combines international expertise and community participation. Added to this is the contribution of 17 women in technical and administrative roles, reinforcing gender equality and enriching the project’s multidisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Progress and concrete results<\/span><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

The progress already demonstrates the pace and solidity of the work: production of the prefabricated elements of the footbridge is over 96% complete; test piles and dynamic pile tests (DPT) have been completed; piles for axes 1 to 5 (10 units) have been installed, as have the corresponding concrete cross beams (5 units). ll-back of the abutment is 80% complete, consolidating the foundations of an infrastructure that will transform the logistical competitiveness of this strategic Caribbean location.<\/p>\n

What is SolJetty\u00ae?<\/span><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

Soljetty\u00ae is an industrial solution developed by Soletanche Bachy that enables jetty construction without relying on marine equipment.<\/strong>\u00a0It combines heavy-duty platforms capable of carrying cranes with launchers for pile driving and RC\/steel structure installation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Developed to industrialize jetty construction, this modular and standardized solution aims to reduce construction time and costs. It can be deployed on our marine construction sites anywhere in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

It offers numerous advantages:<\/span><\/p>\n

– Fully transportable by containers and assembled without welding, allowing rapid mobilization.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

– Spans from 8.5 to 12 m (extendable up to 20 m)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

– Capacity for cranes up to 300 tons<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

– Possibility of installing lateral piles and associated superstructure.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
