Soletanche Polska advances on the Skyliner II<\/h1><\/div>
<\/div>

Soletanche Polska is working on the foundations of the future Skyliner II office building, located in Warsaw\u2019s Wola business district, alongside its twin Skyliner I. This new structure, standing 130 meters tall, will feature 28 floors and a five-level underground parking garage.<\/p>\n<\/div>

A little background<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

Launched in March 2022, the Skyliner II project is being carried out by general contractor WARBUD for client Karimpol Polska. Soletanche Polska<\/a> was tasked with installing diaphragm walls 80 centimeters thick and 32 meters deep, totaling 4,850 m\u00b2 of concrete. Additionally, 38-meter-deep barrettes were implemented, along with 78 jet grouting columns to enhance the foundations’ waterproofing.<\/p>\n

Dawid Skowro\u0144ski, the project manager, explains:“For this project, jet grouting created a horizontal barrier within the shaft walls. These columns helped protect the structure from water infiltration and stabilize the soil, which are critical for the project’s durability and safety.”<\/em><\/p>\n

By April 2024, Soletanche Polska had completed the first phase of the foundation works. The next stage for the general contractor involved preparing the “0” level floor directly in the soil, integrating utility penetrations to enable further excavation. Presently, trenching is ongoing at the \u201c-4\u201d level using mined excavation techniques, with the final trench expected to reach a depth of approximately 20 meters.<\/p>\n<\/div>

A Challenging Urban Location<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>

Skyliner II is a particularly demanding project due to its location in the heart of Warsaw, surrounded by office buildings, shops, and heavily trafficked transportation infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Dawid Skowro\u0144ski adds: “One of the main challenges was installing numerous barrettes within a compact 2,000 m\u00b2 space. We also had to excavate a trench for the diaphragm walls of the service shaft, which will reach a depth of 38.5 meters. This level of soil penetration can affect stability and increase the risk of sliding.”<\/p>\n
