Bachy Soletanche to Deliver Foundations for the Preston Western Distributor Road in the UK<\/h1><\/div>

Bachy Soletanche has been awarded a \u00a35.6m (approximately 6M\u20ac) contract by Costain, to deliver geotechnical works on the Preston Western Distributor Road.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

<\/div>

Scheduled to open early in 2023, the \u00a3200m (approximately 217M\u20ac) road scheme is the biggest new road programme in the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal.\u00a0 The Preston Western Distributor will link the A583 and the M55 motorway and will involve the construction of a new motorway junction, four new bridges and two viaducts.<\/p>\n

During a ten-month period, Bachy Soletanche<\/a> will construct foundations for four different elements; Lea Viaduct, Savick Brook Viaduct, Becconsall Bridge, and various gantries.\u00a0 The scheme will require approximately 260 rotary bored bearing piles<\/a>, with diameters between 900mm and 1500mm, along with 150 CFA bearing piles<\/a> with a diameter of 750mm.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the award, Chris Merridew, Bachy Soletanche Managing Director, said:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a strong relationship with Costain and our history of successfully delivering infrastructure projects has been recognised with the award of this contract.\u00a0 The team adopted a collaborative approach with both the client and engineer to develop the optimum solution, providing particular assistance with regards to different solutions, including the low headroom operations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>
